Who We Fund

The Endowment supports organizations dedicated to identifying and addressing the root causes of challenges in our community, striving for long-lasting, deeply impactful solutions. We seek partners committed to innovation, collaboration, and measurable change across our four strategic pillars.

Eligible applicants include:

New Hanover County organizations classified as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

New Hanover County public agencies, including state and local government entities.

New or emerging organizations without 501(c)(3) status may apply through a tax-exempt organization acting as a fiscal sponsor.

Community Grants Program and Capacity Grants Program FAQ’s

Fiscal Sponsorship Requirements:

  • The fiscal sponsor must maintain full discretion and control over any awarded grant funds and have the organizational capacity to manage and accept the risks of fiscal sponsorship.
  • The project must align with the fiscal sponsor’s charitable mission.
  • The fiscal sponsor’s board must approve the project as furthering its charitable mission before submitting a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to the Endowment.
