The New Hanover Community Endowment (The Endowment) emerged from a pivotal moment in New Hanover County’s history. Established in 2020 after the transformative sale of New Hanover Regional Medical Center to the non-profit Novant Health, the Endowment is fueled by an initial $1.3 billion investment from the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners. This visionary act created a perpetual fund to create transformative systemic change, uplifting the local economy, and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
