Silver Clouds Now on Exhibit at The Cameron Art Museum!

Sixty years ago, Andy Warhol filled a New York gallery with floating silver clouds, rewriting the rules of what art could be. This summer, the Cameron Art Museum is bringing that same experience to New Hanover County.

Through Andy Warhol: Silver Clouds, on view June 19 – September 27, visitors are invited to step inside one of the most celebrated, interactive installations in art history. Nearly 80 shimmering silver balloons drift through the museum Studio One gallery, and in a refreshing departure from the velvet rope, touching the art is entirely the point!

This exhibition is supported through the Arts Council of Wilmington & New Hanover County and The Endowment’s Arts & Culture Programa program that fuels economic growth, enriches lives, and fosters opportunities for youth and residents of all ages.

Beyond the gallery walls, Cameron Art Museum is also a 2026 Community Grant recipient, directing the $15,000 they received toward its Closing the Gap program, the only professional development and Continuing Education Unit program in arts integration in Eastern North Carolina.

This program will engage approximately 300 New Hanover County School teachers through expert-led workshops, educator nights, a summer intensive, and focus groups that gather feedback from teachers to strengthen the work. New resource packets, lesson plans tied to CAM’s own collection, and a 2026–27 School Program Guide allow educators to bring art into literacy, math, and STEM classrooms.

In the spirit of Warhol himself, Cameron Art Museum is finding unexpected power in unexpected places, and with the support of the Arts Council and The Endowment, Cameron Art Museum is changing what art can do for students, teachers, and our New Hanover County community.
