Grants fund housing, food access, youth programs, and county wide community services and charitable organizations
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Endowment is investing more than $3.5 million in seven new grants to nonprofit organizations across New Hanover County, addressing urgent community needs while reinforcing long-term solutions for residents of all ages. Aligned with its commitment to education, social and health equity, community safety, and community development, this funding will expand food access for New Hanover County seniors, promote housing security, and buttress community assets, projects and services county-wide. They will also invest in the full spectrum of youth development, from early childhood education to tutoring, mentoring, and after-school programs, ensuring children and teens have the support they need to learn, grow, and thrive at every stage.
“We believe that change happens when we invest in people and the organizations that support them,” said Dan Winslow, President and CEO of The Endowment. “These grants reflect our commitment to basic needs and the well-being of New Hanover County and reflect our confidence in our local partners working every day to strengthen this community.”
Two of the grants are dedicated to supporting essential services that provide stability for some of the region’s most vulnerable residents.
Four additional grants support programs designed to enhance early childhood education, academic success, and family stability, particularly in underserved communities.
New Hanover County will receive a grant to support the nonprofit and community organizations, programs, and services that the County determines are charitable and effective in service of County residents.
”These grants embody the core pillars that support a thriving community, while responding directly to the needs voiced by our residents and organizational leaders,” said Sophie Dagenais, Vice President of Programs and Grants. “These investments are the first of many more that will reflect our shared commitment to New Hanover County’s vitality. By working together, we’re creating real, lasting change and building a stronger, healthier future for everyone who calls New Hanover County home.”
