Join us in welcoming Sophie Dagenais as our Interim President and CEO. In this role, Sophie brings a steady hand, a strategic vision, and a strong commitment to our community and grantmaking, while leading The Endowment team and guiding our work to support and strengthen the people, neighborhoods, and organizations that make New Hanover County a special place to live.
With nearly two decades of personal connections to the area and time spent in the Cape Fear region, Sophie calls New Hanover County home. She brings a unique blend of professional expertise and heartfelt commitment to the community.
Sophie has served as The Endowment’s Vice President of Programs and Grants for the past 8 months (a role she continues to fulfill). Before joining The Endowment, she was an Assistant Dean at Syracuse University and led the Baltimore Civic Site at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, a $3.4 billion charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families across the United States. She also served as Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Baltimore. Her career builds on a foundation of success as a partner at an AmLaw 100 firm, where she specialized in finance, real estate, and economic development.
