To install such an archival cabinet, along with a a high-quality scanner. The scanner can digitize inscriptions and notes from the books or scan the genealogical records of a family Bible so the objects will be handled much less frequently, thus furthering their lifespan. The existing closet used for rare books is located near a leaky window. The new archival cabinet will be placed on an inside wall away from windows, and thus away from exposure to excess moisture and UV light. (See attached). Once funds are made available, we will immediately install the new equipment and train archival staff within approximately one month so that the Rare Book Preservation Project can begin.
