On October 21, 2025, The Endowment, in partnership with the North Carolina Network of Grantmakers, brought together funders from across Southeastern North Carolina for a day of conversation and collaboration. The gathering was opened by Sophie Dagenais, Interim President and CEO of The Endowment, and facilitated by Sarah Willcox, Executive Director of the Network. The Endowment’s Programs and Grants team played an important role throughout the day, sharing insights and participating in discussions about local initiatives.
The goal was simple but powerful: to come together, exchange ideas, and explore ways to scale what’s working in our communities.
The morning started with introductions and a light icebreaker over coffee and snacks, followed by an overview of The Endowment’s strategic priorities. Participants shared what their foundations are doing in Southeastern North Carolina, including New Hanover County, talked about what’s working, and exchanged feedback they’ve heard from grantees.
After lunch, the conversation shifted to collaboration: how local funders can serve as partners for statewide or regional efforts, and how sharing knowledge and resources can strengthen impact across the region. The day wrapped up with reflections and a discussion of next steps for maintaining connections and building collective impact.
The convening highlighted the value of coming together, sharing experiences, and learning from one another. With support from one another, participants left inspired, connected, and ready to continue strengthening Southeastern North Carolina communities.
