Susie Sewell is the Director of Strategy & Policy at The Forward Fund, where she focuses on developing scalable, student-centered programs, driving impactful policy initiatives, and overseeing program expansion. With a deep commitment to education and community empowerment, Susie brings a wealth of experience in law, nonprofit leadership, and strategic development to her role.
A native of Onslow County, Susie earned her undergraduate degree and law degree from Wake Forest University. She began her career as a judicial clerk for former Associate Justice Sam Ervin IV of the North Carolina Supreme Court before transitioning into private law practice. Her passion for systemic change led her to the nonprofit sector, where she has made significant contributions to organizational growth and innovation.
Before joining The Forward Fund, Susie served as Executive Director of The Schreiber Foundation, where she spearheaded initiatives to advance educational opportunity. She also co-founded ThoughtBox Inc., a nonprofit focused on advancing innovative solutions and strategic approaches towards upward mobility, serving as its Chief Operating Officer.
Susie’s leadership is defined by her dedication to creating meaningful, sustainable impact. Her diverse background in law, policy, and nonprofit management equips her to address complex challenges and drive transformative change.
