Evelyn D. Adger is a dedicated legal professional and passionate community leader based in Wilmington, North Carolina. Currently serving as a Victim Witness Legal Assistant with the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office, Evelyn works closely with prosecutors, law enforcement, and community partners to support victims and witnesses navigating the criminal justice system. Her responsibilities include case management, discovery coordination, and direct support for survivors, including facilitating events for the Homicide Support Group.
Prior to this role, Evelyn spent more than two decades as a Legal Assistant at the Law Office of Attorney Andrew L. Waters. There, she managed criminal and civil case preparation, conducted legal research, handled trust accounts, and supported client services with a steadfast commitment to justice and integrity.
Evelyn’s career is grounded in service, and her leadership extends well beyond the courtroom. She holds a certificate as a NC Victim Service Practitioner and has completed advanced training in equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care. Evelyn has a certificate from Cape Fear Leadership Forum and has also studied through programs at Kellogg Executive Education and the University of South Florida.
A former Board President of the YWCA Lower Cape Fear, Evelyn has received numerous honors, including WILMA’s Women to Watch and the Phenomenal Woman of the Year award. She actively serves on the City of Wilmington Civil Service Commission and chairs the Commission on African American History.
