New Hanover County, NC Recreational Opportunities: Comprehensive Assessment
The Endowment has issued a request for proposals for a Comprehensive Assessment of Recreational Opportunities in New Hanover County. Following a recent strategic plan refresh, The Endowment identified focus areas to enhance quality of life and promote a vibrant, inclusive economy in New Hanover County. One focus is a commitment to increasing recreational opportunities for all residents, recognizing the importance of equitable access to parks, programs, and public spaces in building a healthy, resilient, and connected community. The Endowment has received inquiries from potential grant applicants in search of funding for various recreational facilities ranging from pools and sports facilities to parks and trails.
The Recreational Opportunities: Comprehensive Assessment RFP underscores our commitment to investing in community-informed solutions. To inform grantmaking decisions and guide strategic investment in recreational access and equity across New Hanover County, The Endowment seeks a comprehensive analysis of the current ecosystem to identify strengths, surface gaps, and uncover opportunities for targeted, community-informed action that will meaningfully expand access to recreational opportunities for all residents. The assessment will not only provide a clearer picture of existing assets and gaps but it will also intentionally engage community voices to ensure our grantmaking toward our stated refreshed objectives is reflective of lived experience and local need.
