Crystal Cooper is a seasoned financial expert with over two decades of experience in accounting, financial analysis, and organizational leadership. As the Controller at the New Hanover Community Endowment, Crystal ensures compliance with GAAP standards, oversees robust internal controls, and provides financial insights that drive strategic decision-making. She has been instrumental in implementing systems to streamline revenue, cost management, and expenditure tracking, while engaging with board-level audit and finance committees to support operational excellence.
Crystal’s career spans roles as a Controller and senior financial leader for organizations directing accounting operations, performing variance analyses, and developing comprehensive budgets, fostering improved financial performance. She has proven financial acumen, human resources expertise, internal controls oversight, inventory valuation, and operational reporting.
As a Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Crystal served as Treasurer of the MBA Association, showcasing her leadership skills early in her career. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from George Mason University, where she was a consistent Dean’s List honoree.
In her free time, Crystal enjoys riding horses and spending time outdoors with her husband and two children. She also appreciates staying connected to her community and utilizing her skills to contribute to impactful initiatives.
