The Countdown is On! Fall 2026 Community Grants Program Opens August 10

WILMINGTON, N.C. The Fall Cycle of The Endowment’s 2026 Community Grants Program opens August 10, offering flexible grants of $5,000–$15,000 to eligible organizations serving New Hanover County. Up to $500,000 is available in this second competitive cycle of 2026, with applications due September 8 at 11:59 p.m.

Building on the success of the 2025 pilot initiative and our Spring 2026 Cycle, the program continues to advance The Endowment’s pillars: Social and Health Equity, Education, Community Development, and Community Safety. In 2026, the maximum award increased to $15,000, up from $5,000 in 2025, and total annual funding doubled to $1 million, split evenly between the Spring and Fall cycles.

“Following an energizing Spring cycle, we’re excited to see the great work of local organizations continue through the Fall,” said Sophie Dagenais, President and CEO of The Endowment. “The upcoming Fall Community Grants cycle is an opportunity to support the next wave of community-driven ideas. We encourage eligible organizations to apply and look forward to partnering with those working to improve the lives of people across New Hanover County.

Eligible applicants include tax-exempt nonprofits, public charities, universities and higher education institutions, and public agencies (state, county, or municipal) that serve or benefit New Hanover County residents. Complete the eligibility quiz to assess your organization’s general eligibility.

“Our website offers resources to support applicants throughout the grant application process,” said Shannon Wick, Network Associate. “For questions, email grants@theendowment.org or schedule a Fall Cycle Support Session. We also encourage community members and nonprofits to sign up for The Endowment’s newsletter and follow our website and social channels for updates on the Fall 2026 Community Grants Program.”
