Founded in 1971, the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra (WSO) performs a Classics Series and a Young People’s Concert in Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College, averaging 1,000 audience members for each of its concerts (6-7 concerts annually). WSO also performs for over 5,000 audience members at Live Oak Bank Pavilion for the City of Wilmington’s free community Fourth of July Celebration Event.
2025 Community Grant ($4,145): To acquire new instruments and expand educational and performance capabilities.
2025 Capacity Grant ($4,528): To develop, produce, and distribute comprehensive informational brochures, flyers, and educational materials tailored to K-12 school teachers and private music instructors.
