Sara Hobgood is a dedicated healthcare professional with 26 years of nursing experience, including 19 years on the Mother-Baby Unit. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) for 13 years, Sara has supported countless families during critical moments of their parenting journey. Her passion for adolescent and perinatal mental health stems from both her personal and professional experiences, guiding her toward a holistic approach to patient care.
Sara is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, furthering her mission to provide compassionate, specialized mental health care. She is also the founder of the Holistic Ongoing Patient Engagement (HOPE) Recovery Project, an initiative designed to support long-term mental health recovery.
Beyond her clinical work, Sara is deeply engaged in her community. She serves on the Community Advisory Council for the New Hanover County Community Endowment Board and has been a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) support group facilitator since 2021, advocating for greater awareness and resources for mental health.
A proud alumna of UNC-Chapel Hill, Sara earned her BSN in 1997. She has been married to her husband, Jon, for 27 years, and they share four children, ranging in age from 11 to 22. In her free time, Sara enjoys kayaking, beach walks, crafting, reading, and savoring a good cup of coffee.
