Dr. Chris Prentice is an internationally renowned scholar and practitioner in nonprofit management and public administration. He has dedicated his academic career to advancing research and education in the areas of nonprofit management, cross-sector collaboration, and public sector innovation. He has authored 30 peer-reviewed publications and delivered over 40 academic presentations.
Dr. Prentice’s extensive academic career includes serving as Professor of Nonprofit Management and previous roles as Academic Director of Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations and Director of the Master of Public Administration program. As the Founding Director of the Center for Social Impact at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, he leads a team producing actionable research that strengthens service delivery, cross-sector collaboration, and philanthropic engagement across North Carolina.
An influential voice in the field of public administration, Chris is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Public and Nonprofit Affairs and serves on the editorial boards of Nonprofit Management and Leadership and Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly.
He frequently collaborates with community organizations and government agencies in the Cape Fear region and has served on several local nonprofit boards. His professional background also includes strategic roles in corporate finance, operations, and business strategy.
Chris holds a PhD from North Carolina State University, an MPA from George Washington University, and a BA from the University of California, Irvine.
